Eastern Plays with director Kamen Kalev

The film tells a story of two brothers from Sofia, living an unbearable situation: family and society isolation, superficial relations, alcoholism, hooliganism, violence and racism. A series of meetings with a young Turkish woman (love) and a mysterious old man (faith) reveals the possibility of change. This life-affirming film doesn’t propose a simple solution, yet it offers a message of hope.

"It's a film that, in a few words, in a subtle way, captures the essence of young people in a very dramatic and complex social, economic situation with racist problems, surrounded and trapped in the world we're living in. And there's a note at the end, which is hope," Inarritu said.

Critically acclaimed Bulgarian film's hit songs released on first studio album from the Bulgarian band Nasekomix.
The album “Adam's Bushes Eva's Deep” is co-produced by Nasekomix, the award winning London breakbeat producer Ilian Walker a.k.a. IIs and Anguel Christanov (Art Eternal) and is released this week both internationally and in Bulgaria. Two of the songs in the album – “Inject Me With Love" and “Lady Song” appear in the feature film “Eastern Plays”, directed by Kamen Kalev, which won the top prize at the Tokyo International Film Festival, and the awards for best director and best actor. Some of Nasekomix's most successful live performances were at premieres of the film at this years Cannes International Film Festival and Sarajevo Film Festival.

The music of Nasekomix is full of life and energy, bridging the gap between the band's jazz and rock roots and electronic styles, mixing acoustic elements such as accordions and live drums with the polished sound and vitality of cutting-edge production. The music is memorable and deep with the emotion-filled lyrics written by Andronia Popova and Mariy Rosen.

Nasekomix are: Andronia Popova – vocals, accordion, keyboards; Mihail Josifov – guitar, keyboards, vocals; Todor Karastoianov – drums, vocals, machines and George Donchev – bass. The story of the band began in 2001 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The name of the band is a play on words in Bulgarian – “nasekomo” means “insect”, and “komix” means “comics”. Nasekomix have released one multimedia/interactive album - “Insectomix”, and one single before the new album. The real power of the band lies in its live performances, which are always highlights of Sofia's burgeoning underground music scene.

“Adam's Bushes Eva's Deep” is available now through the iTunes and other internet platforms worldwide. The Bulgarian publisher of the album is Saturn Music (www.saturngroup.eu). The album “Adam’s Bushes Eva’s Deep” is on sale starting from this week in music stores throughout Bulgaria. You can also order the album at meloman-bg.com/ (delivery only within Bulgaria).
